  Peace Building Program

Women's International Peace Activist Network (WIPAN) : JCW is working jointly with Bat Shalom on building this network as a continuation of the joint effort the two organizations are working on for a just and lasting peace. During the establishment phase, 4months, both organizations will collect information about different women peace coalitions, identify who could join the network and contact them. This network will work on affirming the values of peace, justice, human dignity, democracy and human rights as a fundamental milestone to a just resolution to the Middle East conflict. The international network will advocate the Jerusalem Link's joint vision for just peace on the grassroots and policy making level.

Public Political Correspondence: Another activity that JCW runs jointly with Bat Shalom is posting letters to the public in the local newspapers: Bat Shalom publishes in the Palestinian media and JCW in the Israeli newspapers. These letters are around the topics of the ongoing conflict and the perspectives of both sides; in the same time calling for authentic political dialogue, end of the occupation and for just peace. We believe it is vital and urgent to spread our message on the very current crisis to our communities, allowing them to know that there is a voice of peace and hope, an alternative to military means. We need to propose our alternative formulas for and perspectives on moving out of the current situation of paralysis and to work on changing the atmosphere of hopelessness and destruction.

Palestinian and Israeli Women's Silent Vigil against Occupation: Based on the conviction that there is no other future for the Palestinians and Israelis except for them to live side by side equally and with dignity we, women from JCW and Bat Shalom started our “Silent Vigil”. The silent vigil is part of an ongoing initiative called “Women for Ending Occupation” and takes place every other week in the same location in Jerusalem/Al-Quds. With the intention of challenging the notion that any political partnerships are impossible at this time, it is critical to raise an unalterable joint women's demand to end the illegal occupation and dismantle the structure of violence in our region. For this during the vigil women hold signs with slogans like: “Apartheid-Ghetto System will not bring security”, “Occupation=Terror”, “Back to the 67 Borders”, “Human Rights – Women Rights must be respected” etc. We know women have a role in peace making and it must get visible.

Internal Political Dialogue: Within the Jerusalem Link we continue developing our model of partnership and building joint strategies to achieve our goals taking into consideration the present political realities.

Peace Networks: JCW participates in different local peace networks and advocacy campaigns in Europe and elsewhere. New partnerships are under establishment and JCW is involved in different international initiatives for peace.

At least one Training Program on Conflict Resolution: In this program we train 25 young women on methods of conflict resolution, definitions of “peace”, democracy values and practices. The main idea is to introduce to young women activists that there are alternatives to facing conflicts. The project focuses on two main aspects of conflict: social and political.
